Using the GUI
We now have a complete script. To run it, you can type it into the IPAT Studio
program that comes as part of the IPAT-S distribution. Alternatively, you
can load the script from the sample scripts that are distributed with IPAT-S.
The name of the script is Tut1.ips. Loaded into the GUI, it looks like this:
To view the outputs, run the script by clicking on the Indicators tab, and
select the Emissions indicators on the table for all three scenarios. After
changing the settings on the graphs (see the IPAT Studio help file), the
Indicators tab looks something like this:
As can be seen from the graph, with an income growth rate of 2% per year, total
emissions increase under each of the population projections. An 18% decline
in the U.S. emission intensity leads in each scenario to an increase in the U.S. contribution
to global climate change.
